Company Profile 

Porchfern was established in January 1984, as a firm of building contractors. Contract work is undertaken on projects with values ranging from £75,000 to £2,500,000. The organization has gained a wide range of experience in the following areas: 

  • New Build, Design & Build

  • Land acquisition and Total package Schemes

  • Conversions, Renovations/Major Repairs

  • Timber frame

  • Cyclic maintenance/repair

  • Community Centres/Churches/Medical Centres

  • Secure accommodation

  • Hostels, Hotels

A high degree of loyalty and commitment by the workforce ensures high quality workmanship and ‘right first time’ pride in the job. This is a result of, the investment and training Porchfern Limited provide their team members at all levels, via technical apprenticeships and courses both on and off site, and  training and at educational establishments. Additionally the company is currently taking steps to become more involved with the CITB and other local training initiatives. Those involved with the management of quality in the firm have attended CITB & BEC courses and seminars, and are encouraged to take advantage of such events.

Quality Assurance, NHBC, BLP & Construction Line

Porchfern goes to great lengths to ensure a consistent high quality standard of workmanship. We have achieved the highly prized quality standard BS 9001:2000 and are regularly audited by independent quality auditors to ensure continued compliance. Porchfern is NHBC and NICEIC registered, BLP (Building Life Plans) approved, and Construction Quality Assurance to ISO9001:2000 accredited by BM Trada, and holder of FSC CoC (Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody) Accredited by BM Trada TRACK This process ensures that the timber or timber based products are sourced from responsibly managed forests and is supported by many environmental bodies including World Wildlife Fund.

The company and staff are honest, courteous and are fully committed to the Project. Porchfern Limited is keen to build upon their success to forge new links and to work to establish long term relationship with prospective client organizations and in particular housing associations.

Porchfern People and their magic

Having built a vast know-how, expertise and the collective intuition, the whole of Porchfern operates as one unit, minimising wastage and abortive effort. This has been achieved by investing in our workforce, through training and instilling culture of constant drive for excellence; continually searching for better way of achieving objectives.

 The prime movers within the Company are Jay Gorasia Managing Director, (Prior to setting up Porchfern Ltd., he worked as an engineer with many Contractors, and consultants), Ravji Bhudia, (Graduate of University of London) is in charge of implementing Quality management System, Health & Safety, CDM and engineering matters. Pushpa Patel is responsible for smooth running of the organisation and keeping the suppliers and sub-contractors on track. Porchfern’s site management team consists of Ramesh Patel, Devshi Vekaria, Ramji Gorasia, Naran Patel. The firm can draw from the backing of external specialist consultants in the field of Health & Safety, Architectural Design, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Land Surveying, Engineering and Management.

On the production front, our team consists of tradesmen, many of whom, have generations in the same trade and have learned the craft from father to son (and occasionally daughter nowadays). Equally there are many who have served apprenticeships. So, we have the technology and...We have skill.

 We are on the Approved list of most Housing Associations operating in London and home counties. We are also on the select list of approved contractors of many London Local Authorities.

Where are we headed?

Porchfern is a committed partner to providers of social housing, and intend to maintain that commitment as the main core of its business. In order to achieve a balanced mix its portfolio of clients, Porchfern has made in-roads into the Local Government, Health & Education, and Private Sector markets. We have achieved consistent growth ranging from under 10% to over 40% year on year for over two decades we still aim to grow but at a more constant rate.
